UNC Charlotte over the past 35 years has grown into a nationally recognized research center in precision optics and metrology, with research scaled and commercialized into several successful technology spinouts.

Currently over 40 inventions in optics and metrology are ready for commercialization. The CICOM effort aims to support these innovations as they move through technology readiness levels with the support of industry partners and a number of funders supporting the effort.
